When replacing the quadrant onto the cros-over shaft, fit the centralising spring over the spline boss and onto the eccentric. Position the operating arm on the drive side vertically, (unless this ha been removed completely) and slide the spring over the locating peg. The spring should engage both the peg and the eccentric without any slack; necessary bend the arms of the spring slightly using smooth jaw pliers.
