| The pinion should not be a tight fit on the crankshaft and may normally be withdrawn without the use of a puller. | |
| Behind the pinion are two steel rings, one which forms the locating ring for the inner race of the bearing, and the other which fits on the shoulder of the pinion. This latter spacer has a chamfer on the inner collar, and should be fitted with the chamfer towards the gear teeth. The bearing ring should be assembled with the .identifying number on the outside. |
